As part of SEE’s mission to help academia find the genius that we believe exists in every person, we developed SEE Prep. Our college prep program bridges that final gap in helping disadvantaged students achieve success in college and in life.
Built-in barriers to education success do exist. Financial barriers, parental barriers, and other societal barriers all contribute to the massive failures in our education system. While some students easily overcome these barriers, for others the barriers can seem insurmountable. They simply can’t close the gap.
That’s where SEE Prep steps up!
- Approximately 50% of those from high income families will have a four year college degree by the age of 25; from low income families, only 10% will.
- In 2014, the unemployment rate for a high school graduate was 6.0%. For someone with an associate’s degree, it was 4.5%; for someone with a bachelor’s degree, it was 3.5%.
- Individuals with only a high school diploma make about $17,500 less per year than their college degree counterparts.
